The world has entered a new era; organizations are faced with new challenges and traditional principles upon which economic powered and was a key factor in business success, is no longer valid. Knowledge becomes a major factor in competition and intellectual property has been sustained competitive advantage. This paper examines the relationship between information technology and knowledge management, directly and indirectly mediated by empowerment in National Iranian Drilling Company. Questionnaire based on confirmatory factor analysis and reliability was measured by Cronbach's alpha. Population of 300 experts and administrators were appointed. 163 questionnaires were collected. The results of this study indicate that information technology has positive and significant relationship with knowledge management directly and indirectly through empowerment. According to this research, suggestions for managers and future researchers are offered.
